We started serving the Crawfordsville community in December of 2015. Our current Crawfordsville building opened in 2017 and now provides over 10,000 sqft of individual treatment space, small and large classrooms, 2 kitchens, a 1,000 sqft gross motor gym, and safe outdoor play space. Families can receive ABA therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy.
Our clinic has thrived, providing ABA therapy for 30 clients, and hundreds of outpatient (ST, OT, PT) clients each week. We’ve recently added mental health counseling to our comprehensive services, and are excited to see this program flourish in Crawfordsville.
Pediatric Occupational Therapy (OT) is a crucial branch of healthcare focused on aiding children develop the skills necessary for daily living and independence. This therapy type assists youngsters in overcoming physical, sensory, cognitive, and motor skills challenges, enabling them to engage fully in school activities, social interaction, and appropriate self-care.
Occupational Therapists employ a variety of therapeutic techniques, utilizing everyday activities and play as the principal means of treatment. The goal is not only to improve basic motor functions but also to enhance problem-solving abilities, coping mechanisms, and the ability to perform tasks that are age-appropriate.
Pediatric OT customizes therapy to each child’s unique needs, playing a vital role in empowering children to achieve a higher quality of life and a sense of accomplishment in their daily routines.
Choosing Pediatric Occupational Therapy (OT) is a pivotal step towards supporting a child’s ability to participate fully in daily activities. OT is tailored to assist children in improving life skills that are fundamental for their growth and development. This encompasses a wide range of therapeutic interventions aimed at enhancing motor abilities – both fine, such as writing and using utensils, and gross, like running and jumping.
Beyond physical development, OT plays a crucial role in fostering emotional and psychological health, ensuring children can manage their emotions and understand social cues. This holistic approach not only aids in navigating the complexities of childhood but also sets a solid foundation for a fulfilling and independent adulthood.
Pediatric Occupational Therapy (OT) is designed to support children who face challenges in performing everyday activities due to a variety of reasons. Children with developmental delays, who are not meeting expected milestones in areas such as fine motor skills or daily living activities, can significantly benefit from tailored OT interventions.
Similarly, young individuals recovering from injuries may require specialized strategies to regain or enhance their ability to perform daily tasks.
Furthermore, pediatric OT serves children with specific conditions such as autism spectrum disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), sensory processing disorders, and other neurological or physical disabilities. These conditions can affect a child’s ability to successfully engage in school, play, and social situations.
Occupational therapy promotes independence, enhances development, and improves the quality of life for these children by addressing these challenges. It supports them to participate fully in home, school, and community environments.
Pediatric occupational therapy plays a crucial role in supporting children to overcome various challenges that impede their ability to perform daily tasks independently. By engaging in this therapeutic practice, children can experience significant improvements in numerous areas crucial for their development.
For instance, enhanced coordination is often one of the first noticeable outcomes. This improvement is key for children who have struggled with tasks that require fine motor skills, such as writing or buttoning clothes.
Furthermore, occupational therapy offers a pathway to better problem-solving skills. Through carefully designed activities, children learn to approach challenges more strategically, enhancing their cognitive processes and ability to find solutions independently. This skill set is invaluable, not only in academic settings but also in navigating the complexities of everyday life.
Another significant benefit is the development of an enhanced ability to perform daily tasks independently. For many children and their families, achieving autonomy in day-to-day activities is a major milestone. Occupational therapy equips children with the skills they need to perform tasks such as dressing, feeding, and grooming on their own.
This not only boosts the child’s self-esteem and confidence but also promotes a sense of accomplishment and independence, laying a foundation for a more self-sufficient future.
